Queensland Rescue is part of the Queensland Department of Emergency Services' Emergency Management Queensland division. The helicopter rescue service is dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of Queenslanders, their property and visitors to the State, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In times of disaster or emergency, Queensland Rescue has four of the most capable multi-role rescue and auxiliary helicopters in Australia available at a moment's notice.

Queensland Rescue operates from three bases on the Queensland coast in Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns. With experienced and highly skilled pilots and crews, Queensland Rescue is capable of a range of rescue and recovery operations such as:

  • Search and rescue over sea and land
  • Air evacuations of critically ill patients
  • Transporting medical teams to accident scenes
  • Transferring patients between hospitals
  • Evacuation of people in times of disaster
  • Resupplying coJJunities isolated by natural disasters
  • Fire fighting
  • Fire spotting
  • Containing oil spills with chemical sprays
  • Urgent police support
