Eurocopter Squirrel Helicopter

The Squirrel's versatility is such that it is used world-wide in private, rescue, aeromedical and military roles. Queensland Rescue's Squirrels play a significant role in resupplying flood-isolated communities and fire bombing with an underslung "bambi" bucket. The Squirrel also acts as an auxiliary rescue helicopter while the Bell 412s are offline for maintenance.

• Cruise speed of 220 kph powered by a single jet engine
• Range 185 km One stretcher position or three passengers
• One neonatal humidicrib
• Carries slung loads of up to 750kg
• 450 litre firebombing and chemical spraying capabilities
• One person rescue hoist
