What is the Emergency Services Cadet Program?
The Emergency Services Cadet Program is a youth development program, which has been developed through the enhancement of the State Emergency Services [SES] Cadet Scheme.
The Emergency Services Cadet Program aims to develop:
- Life skills and encourage participation in local communities;
- Personal strengths, including self confidence, initiative, leadership and teamwork;
- Skills and knowledge to enhance community safety; and
- A potential recruitment pool for emergency services.
The Emergency Services Cadet Program is for young people who have commenced grade 8 at high school and who have not reached 16 years of age.
Existing cadet members may be able to continue to serve within the cadet group until they reach 18 years of age if the cadet group permits. This will depend on the groups ability to support cadet members over the age of 16 years.
