Our Purpose
To become well-rounded adults, young people need the opportunity to develop personal qualities and skills, such as leadership, teamwork, self-confidence and a sense of place in their community.
The purpose of the Emergency Services Cadet Program is to introduce Queensland’s young people to different forms of emergency services related training programs that will better equip them for community life.
Our Mission
To support Queensland Communities by providing youth development opportunities to Queensland’s young people through a volunteer emergency services skills development program.
Our Objectives
To develop:
- Life skills and encourage participation in local communities;
- Personal strengths, including self-confidence, initiative, leadership and teamwork;
- Skills and knowledge to enhance community safety; and
- A potential recruitment pool for emergency services.
Our Goals
- To provide challenging accredited programs to young people which are recognised by all levels of the community and government;
- To have an increased membership, which reflects the diverse social and cultural mix of the community;
- To carefully select and train our adult leaders to a high standard;
- To be recognised by the community as being responsive to community issues including issues relating to young people;
- To be consulted on policies regarding young people’s issues;
- To have the community recognise, support and value the role of the Emergency Services Cadet Program and its activities;
- To have adequate human, physical and financial resources which are used to the best advantage of the program and the community; and
- To provide opportunities for our members to participate in activities.
