Emerald

The Cadets at Emerald have operated since 2000. Currently there are 18 Cadets at Emerald who are supported by 4 Adult Leaders.

Emerald is located about 3 hours drive west of Rockhampton in the Central Highlands of Central Queensland. The district has experienced a significant population growth over the last 3 decades partly due to the construction of Fairbairn Dam which lead to an expansion of agriculture, particularly cotton as well as citrus and table grape production. Since the early 1980’s, coal mining and the associated services have also made a significant contribution to the growth and economy of the area.

Emerald Cadets are involved in weekly training around the Cadet Curriculum. This includes Scenarios and Weekend Camps. Emerald Cadets come from a range of backgrounds, but all enjoy the social aspects of the training as well as the training itself. Most of the Cadets and Adult Leaders completed their First Aid Certificates at the end of last year.

The Cadet group has retained many of its original Cadet members and has members from 1 st Year to 4 th. With the large representation of 4 th Year Cadets we have been able to involve them in mentoring and training the younger Cadets. The Cadets Train each Monday evening at the recently built SES Training Room on Gregory Highway, about 5 km north of Emerald.
