Ingham

Ingham is located 110 kilometres north of Townsville, situated in the Herbert River Valley in Tropical North Queensland.  Ingham is part of the Hinchinbrook Shire, the area of the shire is approximately 2,869 square kilometres.  The population of the Hinchinbrook Shire is approximately 15,522.

Employment is provided by the sugar industry, forestry, fishing, agriculture, retail, tourism and government sectors.  This industry employed many South Sea Islanders (Kanakas) and Italian immigrants.

Ingham Emergency Services Cadet group are well supported by their Local Cadet Advisory Committee which meet on a regular basis to discuss the cadet group. 

Ingham Cadets train in the State Emergency Services Head Quarters every Wednesday night and they are actively supported by six male and four female Adult Leaders who are also members of the Hinchinbrook State Emergency Service.

There are 22 Cadets and 10 Adult Leaders in the group. Cadets are trained in all aspects of emergency services with some cadets undertaking their Senior First Aid Certificate.

The following photos were taken of the Ingham cadets on a weekend camp. The camp involved cadets practicing their search and rescue skills and undertaking initiative and teamwork activities.
