Mornington

Mornington Island is situated in the gulf of Carpentaria, some 250km’s North West of Karumba. Mornington Island has, as a part of its essential services infrastructure, a small school catering to the education needs of children from Pre-Year 10.

The Mornington Island Cadet Group is one that is sponsored by Education Queensland, as a part of the Youth Access Program (YAP). This Cadet group began in 2000 and there are currently 24 Cadets and 2 Adult Leaders in this group.

Activities and excursions are run a little differently at Mornington Island Emergency Services Cadets. This is due to them being sponsored by Education Queensland and the program being a part of the Mornington Island Year 8-10 curriculum. Therefore this group meets and trains weekly during school hours.

Mornington Island Emergency Services Cadets trains weekly on Friday 11:15 AM to 12:30 PM.
