Southport
The Southport Cadet Unit is celebrating its 15th year and was the third cadet group in Queensland to take up the challenge and become part of this scheme at its inception. The program is filled with challenges, but the Southport Cadets are big on enthusiasm and commitment.
The Local Cadet Co-ordinator, is the original Cadet Co-ordinator for Southport, and the Deputy Cadet Co-ordinator, is a cadet from Southport’s first intake in 1995.
Many other previous cadets have completed cadet training and have stayed on as adult members within the unit and have also become members of the Southport SES Adult group. Others have since gone on to careers in various Emergency Services, such as the Queensland Police Service and the Queensland Ambulance Service.
Southport Cadets actively support and participate in local community events such as, the Gold Coast Show and the Kokoda Memorial Walk.
We also proudly support and March in Anzac Day Services each year.We have had a number of cadets receive the Gold Coast City Youth Achievement Award for their commitment and service to the organisation and the Gold Coast City.
Southport Cadets are a small, close group with 30 members and are very proud of their past achievements and look forward to the future challenges.
Southport Cadets train every Thursday night during the school term from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
