Adult Members

The Emergency Services Cadet Program is committed to the safety and well being of all young people accessing our program.  We support the rights of young people and actively work to ensure a child safe environment is maintained at all times.  We also support the rights and wellbeing of our staff and volunteers and encourage their active participation in building and maintaining a secure environment for all participants.

One of the methods of protecting young people is to ensure an organisation has appropriate recruitment and selection guidelines.

The Local Cadet Advisory Committee plays a significant role in the recruitment and selection process for Adult Members.

Types of roles

There are a number of roles that an adult member can undertake in the Emergency Services Cadet Program such as:

Requirements for Appointment as an adult member

To become an adult member of a cadet group a person must:

How to apply to become an adult member

If a person meets the requirements for appointment as an adult member they can make an application to become an adult member.  This will require them to:

Code of conduct

The code of conduct for adult members determines the standard of conduct for adults within the Emergency Services Cadet Program.  Adult members within the cadet program are required to abide by the code of conduct. The code of conduct is to be signed by the adult member.

What the program will do for adult members

The Emergency Services Cadet Program supports the ongoing training and skill development of our Adult Members.  In turn, adult members are required to have a commitment to participate in ongoing education and training to develop their knowledge and skills to work more effectively with the cadet group and young people.

Induction training is undertaken with adult members through the Cadet Group, and additional training in generic skills may also be conducted for adult members by the local emergency services.

Adult members of the Emergency Services Cadet Group are encouraged to participate in training with the sponsoring Emergency Service, and to undertake First Aid Training.   Adult members are also eligible to attend workshops in the Adult Leader Development Series run by the Emergency Services Cadet Program.

All adult members of the Emergency Services Cadet Program are covered by WorkCover and the Queensland Government Insurance Fund [QGIF] whilst undertaking any activities with the Emergency Services Cadet Program.

Uniforms

Just like cadets, adult leaders are provided with uniforms.  The only clothing not supplied is cold and wet weather gear, which is the responsibility of the individual.

What it will cost?

Not much in dollars but heaps in commitment!  As an adult leader you will need to give up some of your own time for training nights, camps and program planning.

The Emergency Services Cadet Program is free to join and there are no ongoing fees.  Uniforms and working clothes are supplied free of charge.
