Overview
The Emergency Services Cadet Program covers a wide range of skills-based competencies with a strong emphasis on the practical application of those skills in a range of structured activities.
The Emergency Services Cadet Program offers nationally recognised qualifications from the Public Safety Training Package.
The following qualifications are currently offered to Emergency Services Cadets:
- Certificate II in Public Safety (SES Rescue); and
- Certificate II in Public Safety (SES Operations).
The units of competence within the Certificate II in Public Safety (SES Operations and SES Rescue) are focused on core skills that provide a link to the objectives of the Emergency Services Cadet Program to provide life skills to young people.
When a cadet has completed the required learning and assessment associated with the range of training programs within the qualification and supervised workplace experience, they can choose to apply for the respective qualification.

- Elective training programs that local Emergency Services Cadet Groups may or may not decide to deliver.
The core training programs include:
- Induction;
- First Aid;
- General Rescue;
- Building Safer Communities;
- Cadet Communications; and
- Mentoring.
The elective training programs include:
- Map Reading and Navigation;
