Industry Information

In today’s industrial world many industries, to some extent, use, process, store or handle hazardous materials. There are various risks associated with the use, processing, storage and handling of these materials and industry has obligations to ensure that the associated risks are at acceptable levels.

In Queensland, the Dangerous Goods Safety Management Act 2001 and the Dangerous Goods Safety Management Regulation2001 were passed to protect people, property and the environment from risks associated with hazardous materials.

Under the Act and Regulation, occupiers of premises where hazardous materials are manufactured, stored, used or handled have legal obligations for ensuring the safety of people and the protection of property and the environment.
