Chemicals are a part of life in the twenty-first century. While many chemicals have an important role to play in our homes and communities, we need to be aware that these same chemicals may be dangerous to health in certain circumstances.
Examples of toxic household chemicals include:
- Cleaning and laundry products
- Kerosene and petrol
- perfume and aftershave
- swimming pool chemicals
- Nail varnish remover
- paint
- insecticides and weed killers
- disinfectants
- drain and oven cleaning products
- slug and snail baits
- rat bait
