International Women's Day - 8 March

This year's International Women's Day (IWD) saw more Queensland Government departments than ever before getting involved in Brisbane's King George Square activities.

The Department of Emergency Services focused on community education in our demonstrations this year, with two fire safety caravans from the South Eastern Region. A CPR demonstration presented by QAS paramedics was another first for IWD.

So while our IWD displays highlighted roles that have been seen as non-traditional for women in the past (eg. paramedics and firefighters), they also provided important safety education messages.
