Celebrate Queensland's 150th Anniversary q150

In 2009 Queensland celebrates 150 years of independence from New South Wales.  Celebrations will run the entire year and will focus on the key message of our people, our places, our stories.

Q150 provides the opportunity for the Department of Emergency Services to celebrate its past, profile its history and heritage collections and inspire past and present staff and volunteers to recognise achievements.

chopperA virtual photo gallery has been created to profile the history of emergency services in Queensland.  These photos represent and honour the contribution of staff and volunteers throughout history.

Queenslanders, staff and volunteers will be contributing stories to highlight their experiences of emergency services in Queensland. These stories can be accessed by following the link above.  If you would like to share your own stories, experiences or photos please send them to: q150@emergency.qld.gov.au

A commemorative edition of the Emergency Magazine will be available in June 2009 and will feature stories and photos about the history and heritage of emergency management in Queensland and provide a timeline of natural disasters over the past 150 years.
