Glasshouse Mountains – two vehicle car crash
Emergency services crews responded to a two vehicle crash on Barrs Road at the Glasshouse Mountains. The crash occurred around 1pm. Five people were transported to Nambour Hospital suffering from minor back and neck injuries.
Hyde Park (Townsville) - pedestrian injured
A man in his 80s was injured after colliding with a car in Hyde Park this afternoon. The crash occurred on Charters Towers Road around 2.20pm. He was transported to Townsville Hospital suffering leg injuries.
Stonehenge (west of Warwick) – bush fire
Four fire crews are working with personnel from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to battle a blaze on Nyora Road at Stonehenge, west of Warwick. The fire started around 11.15am. A grader has been used to construct fire breaks. No homes are under threat at this time.
Ravenswood – bush fire
Three fire crews are on scene at a bush fire on Ravenswood Road at Ravenswood. The fire has been burning since around 10.30am, mainly in inaccessible areas. Firefighters are currently conducting backburning activities. No homes are under threat at this time.
Moolboolaman – grass fire
Six fire crews were on scene today at a grass fire in the area of Moolboolaman and Settlement Roads at Moolboolaman. The fire has been burning since 6.30pm last night. More than 100 hectares has been burnt by the blaze. The blaze was under control and burning within containment lines around 3.30pm this afternoon. Fire crews will continue to monitor the fire into the evening. No properties have been threatened by the blaze.
Swanfels – grass fire
Three fire crews are on scene at a fire on Judge Road at Swanfels. The fire started around 1pm and around 40 hectares have been burnt. No property is under threat.
Minden – grass fire
Eight fire crews responded to a grass fire off the Warrego Highway at Minden around 1.30pm. The fire was under control around 3.30pm. No homes were threatened by the blaze.
Mount Sylvia (south of Gatton) – grass fire
Five fire crews responded to a grass fire on Mount Sylvia Road at Mt Sylvia, south of Gatton. The fire started around 12.45pm. Fire crews successfully protected several homes from the blaze. The fire is now under control.
FIRE BANS
Fire bans will remain in place for the following Local Government areas until midnight on Friday 6 November: North Burnett, Fraser Coast, South Burnett, Gympie, Cherbourg and Bundaberg.
Fire bans will remain in place for the following Local Government areas until midnight on Monday 9 November: Whitsunday, Burdekin, Townsville, Charters Towers, Richmond, Mackay, Isaac, Banana, Gladstone and Rockhampton.
Fire bans in these areas may be extended again if dangerous fire conditions continue.
The Rural Fire Service has put a ban on the lighting of all fires in the above Local Government areas, including permit fires as a precaution with high, and at times extreme, conditions expected to continue.
The following exemptions apply under fire ban conditions:
• The use of gas and electric barbecues are permitted provided they are not left unattended. The use of wood fire barbecues is prohibited;
• Fires for the purpose of disposal of animal carcasses are permitted, subject to the issue of a Permit to Light Fire by the local Fire Warden;
• Fires of commercial necessity are permitted subject to the issue of a Permit to Light Fire by the Area Director Rural Operations;
• Fires for the purpose of burning standing sugar cane for harvest in accordance with the established practice of the industry; and
• Fires for the purpose of burning sugar cane tops and trash on cane production land between the hours of 1800 (6.00 pm) and 0900 (9.00 am).
