DCS Afternoon Round Up - Wednesday, 20 June 2012.

Freshwater (Cairns) - house fire
Six Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews responded to reports of a house on fire at the corner of Kamerunga Rd and Corkill St, Freshwater
around 12.20pm. On arrival, the house was well involved in fire. Multiple teams of firefighters worked to protect exposures and entered the structure in breathing apparatus to conduct internal structural firefighting. Firefighters took around two hours to bring the blaze under control. The house sustained significant damage. All persons were accounted for and no injuries reported. Fire investigators will work to determine the cause of the fire.

Oakey - car and road train crash
A 19-year-old man was airlifted by Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) Helicopter to Princess Alexandra Hospital after the vehicle he was travelling in collided with the back of a road train. The incident occurred on the Warrego Highway, Oakey around 11.20am. Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man from the wreckage. Paramedics treated the patient for serious pelvic, arm and leg injuries.

Sarina - vehicles on fire
Emergency services responded to a fire located at Webb Road, Sarina around 11.30am. On arrival, six vehicles were well involved in fire and a large amount of smoke was issuing from the area. The fire was brought under control around 12.30pm. Three cars and three trucks were completely destroyed in the blaze. All persons were accounted for an no injuries reported.
