Six Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews are at the scene of a bushfire in the vicinity of Myall Park Road and Hookswood Road, Myall Park (near Miles). The fire has been burning since 2.30pm yesterday (Sunday 2 December) and firefighters are backburning in the area. The blaze is causing significant volumes of smoke and will affect residents in the area of the Leichhardt Highway, Warrego Highway, Old Cameby Road, Burns Road, Hookswood Road and Pelham Road. There is currently no threat to properties in the area. However, as this fire is causing a large smoke haze, motorists are advised to drive to conditions. Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed and if they suffer from respiratory illnesses, keep medication close by. If you feel your home is at threat, dial Triple Zero (000).
