State Planning Policy 1/03: Mitigating the Adverse Impacts of Flood, Bushfire and Landslide

The devastating effects of bushfire on communities could be addressed through land use planning.On 19 May 2003, the Honourable Nita Cunningham, Minister for Local Government and Planning adopted the SPP 1/03 under the Integrated Planning Act 1997 (IPA) with effect from 1 September 2003. SPP 1/03 is supported by State Planning Policy 1/03 Guideline: Mitigating the Adverse Impacts of Flood, Bushfire and Landslide (SPP 1/03 Guideline).

The SPP 1/03 and SPP 1/03 Guideline is a joint initiative between the Departments of Local Government and Planning and Emergency Services.

Flooding, such as that experienced at Charleville in 1990 and 1997, is a significant issue for Queenslanders.This site provides links to the following documents:
