Response and Recovery
Response - the results of strategies and services to
control, limit or modify the emergency to reduce the consequences. Activities
that contribute to outputs of response include:

the implementation of emergency plans and procedures;

| |
the issuing of emergency warnings; |
| |
the mobilisation of resources in response to emergency
incidents; |
| |
the suppression of hazards (for example, fire containment);
|
| |
the provision of immediate medical assistance and relief;
and |
| |
search and rescue. |
Recovery (emergency services) - the results of strategies
and services to return agencies to a state of preparedness after emergency
situations. Activities that contribute to outputs of emergency services
recovery include:

critical incident stress debriefing and salvage and
restoration of the emergency site to a safe state. |
Recovery (community) - the results of strategies and
services to support affected communities in their reconstruction of physical
infrastructure and restoration of emotional, social, economic and physical
wellbeing. Activities that contribute to outputs of community recovery
include:

the restoration of essential services; |
| |
counselling programs; |
| |
temporary housing; |
| |
long-term medical care; and |
| |
public health and safety information. |
